Full Moon in Cancer: Stress is Emotion That Never Found Motion (January 13, 2025)

As the Full Moon illuminates the nurturing sign of Cancer, we are called to explore the depths of our emotional landscape. Fun, right? ;)

This Full Moon encourages us to connect with our inner world, offering a moment to reflect on what truly nurtures and sustains us. Cancer, the sign of the mother, home, and emotional security, invites us to embrace our vulnerability and honor the cycles of life that bring comfort and healing.

An ending is upon us. Not only is it a Full Moon — bringing a close to this chapter — but the Moon's Nodes have just shifted into Virgo and Pisces. This marks a massive energetic shift for the collective of humanity, pushing us to redefine our understanding of boundaries, health, service, caretaking, and work.

Do you have a healthy work-life balance? What does that even mean in America, 2025?

If you asked me 2 words to describe this Full Moon they’d be: Emotional Intensity

The first thing that jumps out in this Full Moon chart is the Moon's close proximity to Mars. The inner emotional world holding hands with the planet of war and destruction? Intense, to say the least. This combination lights up our vulnerable inner world with fiery intensity, bringing emotions to the surface in a dramatic way.

But let’s take a moment to dissect this — there's a way to work with this energy positively. You’re not crazy if you’ve been feeling more emotional and a bit out of control. This intensity is shaking things up for a reason, even if that reason isn't immediately clear.

When I was a dog trainer in a past life, working with behavioral cases and highly aggressive dogs, my mentor told us: “Stress is emotion that didn’t find motion.” E-motion equals energy in motion. Our mentor taught us unconventional ways to help dogs move deep stress through bite work, play, and movement — but always within clear boundaries. This Full Moon is asking us to find movement for our emotions, especially with half of the planets in water signs — all about feeling and vulnerability — during Capricorn Season, which typically resists emotional expression in favor of practicality, profit, and public status.

Adding a significant layer to this Full Moon is the recent shift of the Lunar Nodes into Virgo and Pisces. This transition marks a new chapter in our collective journey, steering us towards themes of practicality, service, and spiritual connection.

With the North Node in Virgo, we are encouraged to focus on the details of our lives, cultivating routines, and habits that promote health and efficiency. Virgo’s energy is about refining our skills, embracing humility, and dedicating ourselves to service. It’s a call to ground our dreams in reality, ensuring that our spiritual aspirations have a practical foundation.

On the opposite side, the South Node in Pisces invites us to release tendencies towards escapism, confusion, and victimhood. Pisces energy is deeply spiritual and imaginative, but when imbalanced, it can lead to a lack of boundaries and an overwhelming sense of disconnection. We’re being asked to integrate the mystical with the practical, finding harmony between our earthly responsibilities and our spiritual pursuits.

How The Heck Do I Navigate This?

To fully embrace the energies of the Cancer Full Moon and the nodal shift, here are some of my practical tips:

Create a sanctuary in your home: Dedicate a space in your home where you can retreat and connect with your emotions. Surround yourself with comforting items like candles, crystals, a blanket, and anything else that feels comforting.

Reflect and Release: Write down any emotional burdens you wish to release and burn the paper as a symbolic act of letting go. This can be a powerful way to clear emotional blockages and invite healing.

Move Your Emotions: Use Mars’ energy constructively by engaging in activities that move the stress through your body:

  • Turn up the music and sing at the top of your lungs.

  • Hit a pillow or towel on the bed or ground for several minutes.

  • Exercise, even a simple walk in your living room.

  • Dance and move your hips to release stored emotions.

  • Scream into a pillow to let it all out.

  • Cry and allow tears to flow, releasing pent-up energy.

This Cancer Full Moon is a powerful time for emotional cleansing and nurturing. Coupled with the nodal shift into Virgo and Pisces, we are invited (meh, actually forced with this energy…) to balance the practical with the spiritual, the tangible with the ethereal.

Embrace this moment to honor your emotional truth, release what no longer serves you, and set a course towards a more grounded and spiritually connected life. As we journey through these cosmic tides, may we find the strength to nurture ourselves and each other, creating a world of compassion, healing, and growth.

Big Love…and a big virtual hug on this wild Full Moon x
